PhAMA
History
PhAMA, Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia was formerly known as
the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Trade and Manufacturers Association (MPTMA).
It was formed as a representative body for the Pharmaceutical Industry
and was officially registered on 19 June 1972.
It
has now grown from humble beginnings to have a total of 53 companies,
i.e. 50 ordinary members and 3 associate members.
PhAMA
members are engaged in the manufacturing, trading, marketing and
distribution sectors of the industry.
PhAMA
is affiliated to the IFPMA (International Federation of Pharmaceutical
Manufacturers Association) and to WSMI (World Self-Medication Industry).
Both
the bodies are non-governmental organizations which work closely
with the World Health Organization (WHO) by providing inputs on
pharmaceutical issues at International forums.
Locally,
PhAMA is a member of the Malaysia International Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (MICCI).
