The MyIPO-PhAMA IP Seminar on Intellectual Property: "The Way Forward", was held on Tuesday 14 June 2011 at the MyIPO's office in Bangsar.

The event which was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC), YB. Datuk Hajjah Rohani binti Haji Abd. Karim was attended by over 150 participants from MOH, MDTCC, MITI, MIDA, MyIPO, MOF, PhAMA, Higher Learning Institutions, Police, Customs Malaysia as well as the Professional Associations.

The event covered topics such as "The Role of Patent in Pharmaceutical Innovation", "New & Innovative Medicines in Improving Patients' Lives", "How Innovator and Generic Medicines can Co-exist" and "Comparative Patent Legislation from the Region - The Way Forward".

The Panel at its discussion at the end of the day proposed the formation of a Multi-member Working Committee to look into the future implementation of IP Management for pharmaceuticals between the relevant parties.
